HKEX's New Climate-related Disclosure Requirements: A Challenge for Corporate Carbon Data Management

Against the backdrop of the growing global climate change challenge, corporate environmental responsibility has become increasingly prominent in the public eye. As a leading financial market regulator, the Hong Kong Stock Exchange (HKEX) has actively responded to the call for global climate change governance, and has maintained close alignment with the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB), the organization responsible for developing international financial reporting sustainability disclosure standards. On April 19, 2024, the HKEX published the consultation conclusions on optimizing the Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) framework's climate-related information disclosure, and also released the "Implementation Guide" to assist issuers in complying with the new climate-related requirements.
